Hogs and Cattle, Century Mall
Wagyu. Unlimited. Put these two words together and Jeff and I will come running. That’s why we tried out the unlimited wagyu in Hogs and Cattle in Century Mall. Wagyu is pretty high quality meat so upon learning the price, I wasn’t expecting much. But even though I was right about the steak being ‘less than impressive’, I won’t write off Hogs and Cattle out of my list just yet.
Hogs and Cattle is at Century Mall right beside The Breakfast Club. The place is very casual and dare I say small. Because they do get a full house often, they seem to have a policy of seriously only one small table for two people even if they obviously had spare tables at the time (Jeff and I usually get two because we like to sit together. lol.)
Here’s their menu. They do have wine but we didn’t try it out because.. well because of the yummy drink you’ll see when you scroll down 😉
So there’s the menu, but what we came for was the Unlimited Wagyu (Php899++) so that was what we got. It came with the following:
Bread and Butter
This Cucumber Cooler wasn’t part of the set menu. It was around Php80++ for the bottomless. It was incredibly refreshing. I didn’t want it at first because I was trying to drink water only but the waiter gave us a free taste and then we were hooked. It was sweet without the artificial sugary taste.
The soup was creamy and filling, so nope, I didn’t eat a lot of this. I had to save space in my belly for the steak. 😛
This is how they serve the main dish. You can choose between Mashed Potatoes or Rice.
* Note: The shrimp is only available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. They were big and juicy. I believe we asked for 3 more plates of shrimp alone.
Soooo… that’s the steak. It’s not bad. They cooked ours medium rare.
But I definitely don’t think it’s wagyu – or at least not a high grade one. It’s quite enjoyable up until you cut it up in the middle. It was daaaaaaaamn fatty. Jeff would have been all over unlimited steak but he didn’t even order another plate – instead we focused on the shrimp. lol.
Hogs and Cattle is pretty okay for a casual lunch. The steak might not be high grade wagyu but the servings are big and generous. Not to mention the delicious Cucumber Cooler which I would love to make at home for myself. The staff was pretty friendly but kind of inconsistent. Some of them were attentive, while some barely batted an eye lash.
Overall, the experience was a little underwhelming. Will I go back? Not sure. If I do, it would definitely not be for the steak.
But if you’re interested, the unlimited wagyu promo was supposedly only for a limited amount of time but it seem that they have extended it – not sure until when. You might want to call for reservation too because it seems they’re always full.
